ristorazione — Monticelli d'Ongina · Emilia-Romagna
On the plains of Piacenza, in Monticelli d'Ongina, Trattoria Da Maria has kept alive for over a hundred years the flavours of a cuisine that has never stopped being made by hand. Since 1986 Maria's family has carried on this ritual, with her daughter Marina now at her side.
Even from the outside, on the village's main street, the place invites you to step through the door: a familiar sign, an atmosphere that promises carefully laid tables and small dining rooms where time seems to slow down. The story of this trattoria spans more than a century, but it is since 1986 that Maria's family has guarded its soul, carrying it forward with rigour and affection, generation after generation.
The small dining rooms hold original antique furnishings: a rustic yet cared-for setting, where the table is laid with attention to detail. Since 2010 her daughter Marina, together with her husband Alessandro, has stood alongside Maria in the kitchen and dining room, continuing a family-run approach that customers recognise in the warm service and the consistency of flavour.
The pasta is made fresh in-house every day: nothing pre-cooked, everything prepared to order. The menu features pisarei e fasò (pasta with beans), anolini in broth, tortelli filled with goose tail and breast, and tagliatelle with horse meat ragù — house specialities that tell the story of Piacenza's tradition with the precision of those who know it from the inside.
Culatello, Parmigiano Reggiano, meats and vegetables chosen from local producers: every dish brings to the table the plains of Piacenza in their most authentic form.
