In the Agro Romano, just a few kilometres from the centre of Rome, a family has worked the same land since 1850. Four generations have made this estate a living stronghold of ancient grain-growing and of Carciofo Romanesco, in the heart of its territory of origin.
The Tenuta's fields lie in ordered rows across the Agro Romano, a landscape of cultivation the family has inhabited for four generations. Since 1850 this land has been worked without interruption, passed down from hand to hand while never breaking the thread linking soil to table. A rooted presence that visitors describe as open countryside a step from the city.
Among the oldest durum and soft wheat varieties of the local territory, the Tenuta safeguards varieties that have vanished elsewhere. Organic certification, obtained in 1991 when organic farming was still a pioneering choice, has guided every agronomic decision toward preserving the biodiversity of the Agro Romano. Sustainable rotations are today an integral part of the growing method.
The harvest does not leave the estate raw: artisanal pasta, sauces, creams and artichoke preserves take shape in the workshop, turning every organic ingredient into a finished product. Carciofo Romanesco, grown in its territory of origin, becomes a preserve with the same rigour with which the field was sown. The supply chain stays short, control remains total.
The Tenuta's products can be found at the Mercato Campagna Amica at Circo Massimo and at other direct-sale points in Rome: the countryside brought to you.
