produttori — Schiavi di Abruzzo · Abruzzo
In Schiavi di Abruzzo, in the southernmost corner of the region on the border with Molise, the woods of the Alto Vastese climb past eleven hundred and seventy metres. Here Giancarlo Campati and Barbara Tatangelo have made truffle hunting a family calling, and the land their one, demanding supplier.
The estate is based in Contrada Badia, 1,172 metres above sea level, at the point where the Apennines of Abruzzo grow steepest and most silent, on the border with Molise. Giancarlo Campati has built this venture on a direct, hands-on relationship with the land: every plot is known step by step, season by season, with the care that belongs only to those who work their own ground.
From the woods of the Alto Vastese comes a harvest of fresh truffles of documented quality, with specimens of unusual size: a 510-gram truffle unearthed in a single outing made headlines in the local press, and the 774-gram truffle remains the clearest sign of what these woods can give. Here, the harvest is never routine.
Alongside the fresh truffle, the estate produces a range of processed specialities: wildflower honey with truffle, white truffle butter, aromatic seasoning, and preserved vegetables in jars. Each product is made from the same raw material gathered in the woods of Schiavi di Abruzzo, bringing to the table the unmistakable intensity of a truffle grown at high altitude, with no compromise on the quality of the raw material.
From Contrada Badia (Badia district) to the finest truffle markets, by way of a family-run artisan production: the page for Tenuta Agricola Campati tells every detail.
