On the Litorale Ionico, where a unique microclimate forms between an artificial lake and the sea, Sorrento Giardini has been growing citrus for nearly a century. A story that began in Sorrento in the 1930s, grown to one hundred and fifty hectares between Basilicata and the Litorale Ionico.
The rows stretch across more than one hundred and fifty hectares between Basilicata and the Litorale Ionico, in a microclimate shaped by the proximity of Lake Ginosa and the sea. Angelo and Antonio Mauro, third generation of the family founded by their grandfather in the 1930s, now lead this expanse of citrus groves certified Global Gap and Bioagricert.
Every fruit is hand-picked, never leaving the company's own grounds. Manual selection governs the entire process, from harvest to shipping, for a freshness that admits no shortcuts. Fourteen varieties — seven of oranges, two of lemons, five between mandarins and clementines — cover the whole calendar year thanks to the complementary seasonality of the fields.
From the field to the Centro Agro Alimentare di Napoli (Naples' wholesale food market), the supply chain knows no intermediaries. Boxes, cold-storage rooms and in-house sorting facilities keep the cold chain unbroken all the way to delivery. More than two thousand tonnes a year reach French wholesalers and German supermarkets: one hundred per cent Italian citrus, certified and traceable, carrying the taste of the Litorale Ionico to the heart of Europe.
Nearly a century of citrus-growing history, a direct supply chain and fourteen varieties in the catalogue: the page tells the whole story of Sorrento Giardini.
