ristorazione — Napoli · Campania
On the Naples seafront and in the heart of the city, Scicchitano brings to the table eighty years of Neapolitan maritime tradition. A seafood restaurant with deep roots and a precise eye on what the sea offers each day.
Scicchitano is born of an eighty-year story: Giuseppe is the third generation of a family that has made the sea of Naples its kitchen. The name carries the weight and grace of 'A figlia d''o Marenaro (the founding restaurant's original name), opened in 1943, from which everything began, and which Giuseppe chose to renew without betraying.
In the dining room Giuseppe is as much at home as he is at the stove: he welcomes every guest with that quiet competence one inherits rather than learns. The careful setting, the two locations — one on Via Foria, the other overlooking the sea on Via Nazario Sauro — reflect an idea of dining where detail is never left to chance, and service is an integral part of the dish.
From his father he inherited the art of opening oysters and shellfish with precision and respect; from his mother, a passion for Neapolitan cooking. The day's catch becomes zuppa di cozze (mussel soup), spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams), primi al cartoccio (pasta baked in parchment) and the antipasto Vesuvio: dishes that don't seek to surprise with the unusual, but to render the exact taste of the sea.
