produttori — San Vito Sullo Ionio · Calabria
In the hinterland of Catanzaro, in San Vito Sullo Ionio, a family dairy has been working local milk since 1947. Three generations of craftsmanship, one philosophy: genuine, natural Calabrian dairy products.
Every morning, milk arrives on the marble counter from the livestock farms of the area: Calabrian stables, hillside pastures, short supply chains that the Rocca family knows by name. From that still-warm milk, Rovilat has been making its dairy products since 1947, when Vincenzo Rocca began production in the small village overlooking the Mesima valley.
The hands that work the pasta filata (stretched-curd cheese) follow gestures passed down from generation to generation: today it is Vincenzo and Elisabetta who keep their grandfather's recipes, preserving unchanged the proportions and timings that define the character of each wheel. Craftsmanship here is not a marketing promise, but the concrete method behind every piece, carried out in keeping with the hygiene standards that customers recognise and value.
On the shelves stand fresh mozzarellas, scamorze, cream, and a range of cow's and sheep's milk cheeses that reflects Calabria's twin dairy traditions. The finished products are available for direct purchase at the shop counter, along with freshly made sandwiches prepared on the spot with the dairy's own products.
From the shop window, every wheel and shape tells seventy-eight years of craft. The page explores the production and contact details in depth.
