ristorazione — Berzano di San Pietro · Piemonte
In the hills of the Monferrato astigiano, at Berzano di San Pietro, a family-run establishment has stood its ground since 1969 with the same Piedmontese cooking as ever: few compromises, plenty of flavours you can still recognise.
Since the spring of 1969, the same family has kept this door open onto the hills of the Asti countryside. More than fifty-five years of continuity are not improvised: they are handed down gesture after gesture, season after season, with the patience of those who know that real cooking cannot be built in haste, nor easily abandoned.
The dining rooms welcome a working lunch crowd at midday and a wedding banquet in the evening with the same ease. The garden outside extends the space toward the hillside, and first-time guests are greeted with a welcome aperitivo: a simple gesture that says a great deal about how hospitality is understood here.
From the kitchen come the classics that made Piedmontese cooking great: fritto misto alla piemontese (mixed fried meats and vegetables), agnolotti al sugo (filled pasta with meat sauce), brasato all'Albugnano DOC (beef braised in Albugnano wine), tagliolini caserecce with black truffle. Traditional dishes served in generous portions, ordered à la carte or gathered into a tasting menu that follows the lead of the season.
