In the spa town of Bad Nauheim, in the heart of Hesse's Wetterau region, El Sol has spent nearly twenty years carrying Italian and Spanish cooking beyond the borders of the Mediterranean. An address well known to regulars of the Sudpark's Saline (saline springs), and one that keeps renewing itself with the seasons and their ingredients.
Pasquale Domine opened the doors of El Sol nearly twenty years ago, choosing Bad Nauheim — a town of waters and spa cures — as the stage for a cuisine that knows no geographical borders. The restaurant's entrance, along Schwalheimer Straße just steps from the Sudpark, is the first sign of a hospitality that renews itself at every service, from lunch through to dinner.
The dining room, carefully furnished and able to seat up to ninety guests, is designed for occasions of every kind: an intimate dinner, a working lunch, a gathering among friends, a family celebration. El Sol also offers a catering service for private events of up to one hundred and fifty people, bringing Mediterranean cooking directly into guests' homes.
On El Sol's stoves, two traditions coexist: Italian pasta and pizza, tagliolini with black truffle and with seasonal chanterelles, ossobuco and grilled veal fillet, alongside fish and meat specialities of Spanish inspiration. The menu of the day changes every twenty-four hours, following ingredients and seasons with artisan rigour.
