In the countryside around Vercelli, where paddy fields draw the horizon in orderly rows, Riseria di Oldenico has been milling rice since 1958. A family story that begins in the soil and reaches the table, carried by people who know every variety in detail.
The paddy fields of the Vercelli plain are among the most extensive in Europe: parallel rows stretching toward the horizon, flooded in spring, golden in summer. It was in this landscape that Riseria di Oldenico took its first steps in 1958, taking root in a territory that has made rice its deepest identity.
From Carnaroli to Arborio, from Baldo to Roma: the range is broad and precise, including whole-grain rice and specialty varieties such as the red Solitario and the black Nerone 2. Each grain carries different qualities — how it holds up to cooking, its aroma, its texture — and staff can guide customers on which variety suits each dish.
The mill turns rough rice into table-ready grain with artisan care, from cleaning through to final selection. At the company shop, alongside the rice varieties, customers find biscuits, craft beers, rice pasta, wine and other local specialties: a range that speaks to the richness of the Po Valley territory beyond the single grain.
A family-run rice mill active for nearly seventy years, offering direct sales and product guidance. The page tells the story of its varieties, its range, and how to reach it.
