ristorazione — Tombolo · Veneto
On the plain between Padova and Treviso, in Tombolo, the Berton family has been welcoming guests since 1999 with the same measured approach as always: a wood-fired oven kept lit, a dough that takes its time, and a kitchen that follows the calendar of the seasons.
Once through the door, the mark of a family-run business of more than twenty-five years is immediately clear. Federico looks after the dining room, Marco the dough: two distinct roles, one shared vision. La Tavernetta has never changed hands, and that continuity is felt in the way guests are welcomed, even before they sit down.
The dining room fills up in the evening, with tables extending, in the warmer months, onto the terrace opened in 2018. There is also a relax area designed for those waiting for takeaway orders: a detail that speaks to the attention paid to every way of experiencing the place. The menu offers classic and seasonal pizzas, plus three off-menu specials renewed every month with the vegetables of the moment.
In front of the wood-fired oven, Marco's work can be measured: sourdough with long natural fermentation, refined further after a course at the Università della Pizza (Pizza University) in 2013. The result is a light, easily digestible pizza, also available gluten-free in three variants. Seasonality enters the dough even before it reaches the topping.
All of this arrives on the plate: carefully chosen ingredients, time respected, a family that knows its guests by name. The page tells the rest.
