ristorazione — Torino · Piemonte
In the heart of San Salvario, one of Turin's liveliest neighbourhoods, Pizzeria 150 serves two specialities rooted in tradition: pizza al tegamino (pan-baked pizza) and farinata di ceci (chickpea flatbread). An address that has needed no introduction since 2011.
On via Nizza 29, at the edge of San Salvario, Pizzeria 150 opened its doors in 2011: the name marks the hundred-and-fiftieth anniversary of Italian Unification, and since then the place has become a neighbourhood landmark, just steps from Porta Nuova station, instantly recognisable and true to itself.
The atmosphere is informal and welcoming: a soundtrack that runs from 1930s jazz to the classics of the 1980s accompanies the evening, animals are always welcome — with a small surprise in store for them — and booking is recommended, a sign of a room that fills up night after night.
Gaetano, an instructor for the Italian National Pizzaiuoli Team, runs a kitchen built on slow leavening and carefully chosen ingredients: Cirio tomato, sausage and produce typical of the area. The pizza al tegamino — soft and light — sits alongside traditional farinata di ceci, also available filled, and gluten-free versions offered at no extra charge.
