ristorazione — Carbonia · Sardegna
In the heart of Serbariu, an ancient borgo (historic village) within the municipality of Carbonia, a family house has become a table: La Piazzetta carries within it over a century of history and a cuisine that tells of southern Sardinia without intermediaries.
In Serbariu, the original nucleus of Carbonia, a house's front door safeguards more than a century of history. La Piazzetta was born in 2009 when Carlo and Hilda transformed the family property into a restaurant: not just any opening, but the fulfilment of a place that already carried the feel of hospitality, its walls holding the memory of the village.
Eighty covers in a dining room where the family-run rhythm shows in the pace of service and in the choice of ingredients. Local, seasonal produce guides the menu: the kitchen moves across both the land and the sea of southern Sardinia, never losing the thread of the territory around it.
In summer the old courtyard opens up: sixty guests beneath the central olive tree, among old loggias and the wood-fired brick oven that sets the pace of the evening. This is where the character of the place reveals itself most clearly — not a decorative touch, but a living element, part of the house since before it became a restaurant.
The fregola (Sardinian pasta) with seafood, the house tiramisù, the mirto (myrtle liqueur) served in a frosted glass: every detail carries the weight of a precise choice.
