ristorazione — Roma · Lazio
In Garbatella, one of Rome's most authentic neighbourhoods, an artisan bakery has thrived since 1989. Bread, pizza, pastry and bar: four souls under one roof, with the same passion as ever.
In the heart of Garbatella, on Piazza Oderico da Pordenone, La Fornarina has been open since 1989. A neighbourhood that has managed to preserve its popular identity, and a place that over more than thirty years has become part of it: a point of reference for morning bread, the midday break, the evening aperitivo.
The family-run management shows in the tone of service: welcoming, well-trained staff, and attention to customers that never slips into formality. It is that everyday care, hard to build and easy to recognise, that turns a neighbourhood spot into a place people are glad to return to, day after day.
Every day the oven turns out fresh bread, crisp pizza rossa (Roman-style pizza with tomato), schiacciate (flatbreads) and the sweets of Roman tradition. The maritozzo (sweet cream-filled bun) is the house specialty: soft, generous, true to the recipe. Alongside it, cornetti, the Mont Blanc and the pan brioche with cream complete an artisan production that has never stopped being just that since opening day.
Bakery, pastry shop, pizzeria and bar in a single address: La Fornarina dal 1989 is the Garbatella that never changes.
