On the hills of Montemarano, where Irpinia offers Taurasi its most gifted ground, the Romano family tends its vineyards under certified organic method, with the quiet fidelity of those who know every row by heart, across generations.
In Montemarano, at the heart of the Irpinia terrain suited to Taurasi, the Romano family's Aglianico vines grow on the hills of home. Grapes grown exclusively in the family's own vineyards, in a zone that for centuries has given the vine the climate and soil it needs to show its unmistakable character. The story begins with the land, and never strays far from it.
Certified organic production governs every season. No added yeasts, spontaneous fermentation, grapes picked by hand at full ripeness in November: the estate's calendar follows the rhythms of nature, not those of industry. It is the approach Soccorso Romano learned from his father, and that his son Enrico, an agronomist, now carries forward with method and daily care.
In the cellar, time works with neutral wood chosen not to overpower the aromas of the grape: skin macerations lasting twenty to thirty days, manual pressing. Three wines emerge from this — the Vendemmia, made to be drunk young, the Gioviano, aged for a medium span, and the Nero Né Taurasi — each representing a different degree of patience and attentiveness to the Irpinia territory.
