ristorazione — Firenze · Toscana
In the shadow of the Bargello, just steps from Palazzo Vecchio, stands a doorway Florence has known since 1986. A family-run osteria that hands down authentic Tuscan cooking in the beating heart of the historic centre, where the old city still keeps its rituals and its flavours.
Tucked into the maze of lanes between the Bargello and Palazzo Vecchio, Il Barroccio is one of those rare osterie that Florence's historic centre keeps without giving away easily. Since 1986, the same sign has marked this corner of the old city, where tourism moves fast and tradition holds its ground, quiet and tenacious, true to itself for four decades.
Thirty-five covers, nothing more. Giovanni oversees the dining room with the ease of someone who knows every table and every guest by name: the atmosphere recalls the trattorias of old, simple and warm, without frills. The small size is not a limitation but a deliberate choice: here, service is a constant presence, not a hurried pass between tables.
In the kitchen works Giovanni's wife, and from that kitchen come pasta and desserts made strictly by hand every day. Pici with wild boar ragù, ravioli with porcini mushrooms and truffle, the house tiramisu: none of these dishes knows an industrial shortcut. The raw ingredients are Tuscan, the hand is artisanal, and the result comes straight to the table.
Bistecca alla fiorentina, pici al cinghiale, pasta made fresh every morning: the customer page has every dish and how to book your table.
