In the NoLo district, where Milan renews itself without forgetting who it is, HUG was born in 2017 in the courtyard of a former chocolate factory that once belonged to the Grassi family. An unexpected opening that promises something different: not just another place to eat, but somewhere to feel at home, with the outer courtyard already welcoming you before you cross the threshold.
The dining room lives on a double soul: that of Stefano, a passionate host who talks you through seven craft beer taps — including the Baladin range — and a carefully chosen selection of wines; and a cultural one, with live jazz, stand-up comedy every second Thursday, reading groups and book presentations that fill the monthly calendar.
Behind the stove works Chef Marta, trained at the Plaza Athénée with Alain Ducasse, at Joël Robuchon's Atelier and at Joia with Pietro Leemann. Her cooking brings to the table fresh egg pasta with traditional ragù and dishes such as tofu in carpione (vinegar-marinated tofu): Italian tradition and international openness, with no compromise on quality.
