Since 2011, in a Trastevere alley that still smells of cobblestones and old plaster, Donkey Punch has kept its doors open with a clear identity: a sandwich shop and beer house with a rock'n'roll soul, true to itself for over a decade in the most authentic heart of working-class Rome.
Inside, a mural covers an entire wall: the great masters of rock'n'roll and blues, portrayed side by side, stare down at whoever walks in. It isn't decoration, it's a statement of intent. The atmosphere that results — intimate, recognizable, far from anonymous — is an integral part of the story.
The menu is built on choice: bread, meat, fish, cheese, vegetables fresh or cooked according to tradition, alongside a full range of vegetarian and vegan options.
