On the banks of the Seine, in Samois-sur-Seine — the village that keeps alive the memory of Django Reinhardt — Démé opened its second home in the summer of 2025, bringing Italian cooking straight onto the Quai de la République, where the river marks the passing of the seasons.
First came Fontainebleau, at 41 boulevard Magenta: there Démé had already built its reputation for Italian cooking beyond the Peninsula's borders. On 11 July 2025 came the turn of Samois, with an address that alone is worth the trip: number 21 Quai de la République, its façade looking straight out onto the river.
Inside, the dining room has the warmth of a place that has chosen to be at ease where it stands. Outside, on sunny days, the pontoon on the Seine turns lunch into something more: a table on the water, in the village where Django Reinhardt spent the last years of his life and where jazz still echoes in the memory of the place.
The menu carries ingredients that leave no doubt as to their origin: mozzarella fior di latte and buffalo mozzarella AOP, coppa italiana, taleggio, gorgonzola, cacio cavallo, taggiasche olives. The pizzas — from the Margherita at twelve euros to the Caprina with melting chèvre and confiture de piment — are the heart of the offering, alongside pastas and salads that round out a menu designed to suit tables of different tastes and appetites.
