ristorazione — Volketswil · Canton Zurigo
In the Canton of Zurich, in Volketswil, a restaurant carries the scents and colours of Southern Italy across the Alps. Costa Viola is a restaurant-pizzeria that tastes of home, of a distant sea and of shared tables, with a kitchen that has given up nothing of its roots.
Salvatore Borruto built Costa Viola the way one builds a family place: with care for every detail and with the authentic hospitality that Southern Italy carries in its DNA. The entrance welcomes with the same ease as an open home, where the scent of the kitchen arrives before you even sit down at the table.
The dining room is bright and welcoming, but Costa Viola's secret lies on the second floor: a rooftop terrace where, in fine weather, service continues outdoors with a view over the neighbourhood. Inside, one space turns into a small market where you can buy wines, sweets, coffee and liqueurs — the very same ones that reach the table.
On Costa Viola's stoves, recipes from Southern Italy take shape, passed down from generation to generation. Every ingredient is chosen from selected Italian producers, because genuineness cannot be improvised: it is guaranteed starting from the raw materials. The pizza comes out of the wood-fired oven, and the dishes carry the scents of the Mediterranean without mediation.
Awarded the Best of Swiss Gastro Award in 2018 and 2019, Costa Viola is today the most highly regarded restaurant in Volketswil. The page tells the rest.
