Twenty hectares of vineyard stretch along the slopes of the upper hills of Vhò, in the heart of the Colli Tortonesi. Here the Mariotto family has worked the land since 1921: more than a century in which every row has refined its position, its orientation, its voice within the Piedmontese landscape.
The Martirella vineyard originates from a precise place: a plot in the upper hills where microclimate and terroir combine in an unrepeatable way. From that single vineyard comes a wine that blends Barbera with other native grape varieties — Claudio Mariotto's philosophy captured in a single bottle: one place, one wine.
In the cellar, the Timorasso Derthona carries the ancient name of Tortona and the character of the native grape variety that for decades risked disappearing. Claudio personally leads the tastings, presenting the full range and occasionally opening bottles from past vintages — a story that only someone who knows every harvest can tell.
