On the Ionian coast of Catania, where the sea stacks of Acitrezza rise from the water like a petrified myth, Ciclope Tour has been guiding visitors through the Riviera dei Ciclopi (Cyclops' Riviera) since 2015: a boat, a family, a stretch of Sicily to discover from the water.
Since 2015 Ciclope Tour has been taking visitors into the heart of the Riviera dei Ciclopi aboard the Polifemo, the boat of Cristian Marici, who knows every current and every cove along this coast. A family business born in Acitrezza, where the Ionian Sea meets the black basalt of Etna and legend blends with geology.
The ninety-minute tour covers seven attractions, each explained in turn: Isola Lachea, the Faraglioni seen from below, the basalt columns and the Grotte di Ulisse (Ulysses' Caves), with a stop for swimming in the Isole dei Ciclopi Marine Protected Area. For those who prefer to go it alone, a 5.4-metre rubber dinghy for six people is available with no boating licence required.
On board, you can also stop at sunset for an aperitivo or enjoy fresh fish grilled right on the water. The excursions welcome families with small children, and the full three-hour tour adds two more stops in the water and eight points of interest along the coast as far as Acireale.
