In the valleys of Cadore, where the Dolomites of the Belluno region shaped one of the longest-standing traditions in Italian eyewear, Castellani has produced optical and sun frames since 1967: almost six decades of an entirely Italian supply chain, born from a family and remained so, generation after generation.
Alpacca, monel, titanium: the wires and alloys that, caught in raking light on the workbench, reveal the raw material of every Castellani frame. For over half a century these metals have entered the Domegge facility raw and left it transformed into temples, hinges and small components, with no production stage entrusted to outside hands. The Made in Italy certification from ITPI, number 219.107.V, is its official seal.
It is at the workbench that continuity is measured: Marco Castellani, son of founders Danilo and Dolores, has led the company since 2000 together with his sister Katia. The second generation has inherited not only the management, but the capacity to produce single models or entire collections to a client's design, under private label, without intermediaries.
Through the coloured glass of the lens one reads six distinct collections — SOVER, NOEND, IBORGHESI, GIORNI, VULIWEAR and CASTELLANI OCCHIALI — for a range of around nine hundred models. The iBORGHESI line is made in titanium for optical frames. These frames reach over ten thousand points of sale worldwide and thirteen hundred opticians in Italy, through a distribution network built up over time by the company itself.
