ristorazione — Amsterdam · Noord-Holland
On Amsterdam's Singel, at the corner where two canals meet, an Italian restaurant has kept the same door open since 1976. Casa di David is a family story now in its third generation, built on authentic Italian cooking and fifty years of loyalty to a precise vocation.
In 1976 Nicoletta Gezzi arrived in Amsterdam with her cooking and founded Casa di David on the Singel, at the corner of Beulingsloot and the canal. Fifty years on, that threshold is still open: the same address, the same sign, and a family story that has passed through three generations without ever losing its bearings. In 2026 the restaurant celebrates its fiftieth anniversary.
The dining room reflects the same care with which the family has run the restaurant for three generations. Service is entrusted to a largely Italian team — Adriano, Ludovica, Elisabetta — who bring to the table not only the dishes but a way of being at the table that comes from far away. Every evening is a welcome that cannot be improvised, in a place where the warmth is genuine.
In the kitchen, the fire is that of the wood-burning oven, where pizza is baked according to tradition. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal, chosen daily; the bread is made by hand. On the menu, traditional pastas — carbonara, linguine with burrata and truffle, ossobuco with risotto — prepared with carefully selected ingredients and recipes that take no shortcuts.
A dish that carries the weight of fifty years of precise choices. The page tells everything Casa di David has built, generation after generation, on the Singel.
