Opened in 1996 at the Centro Comercial El Foro (a shopping centre), Capriccio Italiano has turned twenty-eight without ever pausing its growth. Today it employs sixteen people and ranks among the city's most appreciated restaurants — second out of one hundred and ninety-seven according to TripAdvisor. A presence that Mérida has come to recognise as part of its everyday landscape.
The dining room welcomes families with high chairs, dedicated children's menus and drawing sheets for the little ones. Those who prefer the open air will find a place on the terrace. A setting designed for those who want to linger at the table without haste, in an atmosphere that combines the simplicity of a family meal with the care of genuine Italian cooking.
In the kitchen, the pizza dough follows Neapolitan tradition, with crisp edges and slow leavening. The pastas — from squid-ink spaghetti to meat lasagna — are prepared al dente, and the porcini mushroom risottos arrive at the table with just the right creaminess. For those who need it, the entire pasta range is also available gluten-free.
The meal closes with the house desserts: tiramisù and tarta de queso, made in the kitchen, faithful to the same taste as ever.
