ristorazione — Roma · Lazio
At Porta Pia, in the heart of Rome, BAP opened in 2024 as a meeting point between specialty coffee culture and a food offering that follows the day from morning into evening. Behind it lies a family story spanning more than half a century.
The Mauceri family has been roasting coffee since 1968 in Civitavecchia, and at BAP that tradition finds its Roman home. The place has made European Coffee Trip's Italian Top 10: a recognition that speaks to how thoroughly Rome has embraced specialty coffee culture, and to how far BAP has become one of its reference addresses.
At the counter, single-origin coffees and blends from Torrefazione 68 (the family's roastery) sit alongside a bakery of artisan baked goods that changes register every day: croissants shaped like bows, New York rolls, pain suisse, Danish pastries and sfogliati (flaky pastries). This is where BAP expresses its most precise identity — morning as ritual, the counter as stage.
As the day moves on, chef Matteo Anselmi's kitchen takes the stage. The menu moves without borders: bao, burgers, falafel, couscous, timballi (baked pasta pies) and club sandwiches sit alongside homestyle first courses in an all-day-long offering that works as well for Saturday brunch as for dinner with friends. Dishes run between fourteen and twenty-two euros.
A Roman address that joins more than fifty years of artisan roots with an outlook open to the contemporary world. The page tells the rest of the story.
