In Amandola, at the heart of the Monti Sibillini, there is a beekeeping business that tells the story of the landscape through what it produces: local honey, saffron and pink apples from a Marche mountain still capable of surprise.
On the slopes of the Monti Sibillini, where cultivated fields alternate with high-altitude pastures, Apicoltura Apegaia places its hives according to the seasonal blooms. The nectar the bees gather in this landscape becomes a local honey that carries within it the botanical identity of one of the most unspoiled territories in the central Apennines.
Alongside honey, the company grows and sells local saffron and pink apples from the Sibillini, a native variety of the Marche mountains. These are crops that grow in the same soil that feeds the bees: a stronghold of biodiversity that keeps alive traditional cultivations otherwise destined to disappear from the fields of this valley.
Every stage of processing is done by hand: from honey extraction to the transformation of typical products, right through to direct sale, which shortens the distance between producer and buyer. The jars lined up in the workshop tell of a short supply chain, where every product bears the precise name of the territory it comes from.
In Apegaia's workshop, every jar is a precise extract of this territory. Discover the products and the story in the full page.
