ristorazione — Greve in Chianti · Toscana
In the medieval hamlet of Montefioralle, a kilometre from Greve in Chianti, the hills of Chianti Classico open onto a terrace overlooking vineyards and olive groves. Here Tuscan cooking speaks for itself, without mediation.
Montefioralle is one of the best-preserved medieval hamlets in the Florentine Chianti: stone walls, cobbled lanes, and at number 39 of Via di Montefioralle a door opening onto more than twenty years of authentic Tuscan cooking. Antica Trattoria Il Guerrino guards this threshold with the same care the hamlet gives to its own form.
The building dates back to the 14th century, and the historic cellar — carved into the rock, with vaults that recall the Middle Ages — is the trattoria's secret heart, ideal for tastings and special occasions. In the dining room, Ruggiero brings a family-run style evident in the precise welcome and in service that feels like home, not routine.
All the pasta is fresh and handmade: pici with Cinta Senese ragù, pappardelle with wild boar cooked in Chianti Classico, peposo prepared with the estate's own Chianti Classico Riserva. Fresh ingredients from local Chianti farms, seasonality respected, no shortcuts: Ruggiero's cooking is legible in the gestures before it is in the dish.
The wines are partly estate-grown, the vines visible from the terrace. The page tells the rest of the story.
