ospitalita — Borgo Cerreto · Umbria
In the heart of the Valnerina, where the Nera river flows between the Sibillini Mountains, stands a casale (farmhouse) dating back to 1600: a dovecote tower turned into an agriturismo (farm hospitality) by a family of norcini (traditional pork butchers) with over sixty years of tradition.
From the window, the landscape opens onto the Sibillini Mountains and the green valley embracing the Nera: a view shared intact, without mediation, by the four rooms — Lavanda, Vaniglia, Zenzero, Zafferano (Lavender, Vanilla, Ginger, Saffron), each with its own character. Wood, stone and handmade Umbrian terracotta shape the interior; outside, the Valnerina flows silently.
From the flower-filled balcony, the territory reads like a living map: the trails of the Sibillini, the woods where staff lead guests to gather truffles and mushrooms, the mule-back paths climbing toward the ridges. The Spoleto-Norcia cycle path passes just steps away, and the area's cheese-making workshops are within easy reach.
The room is the point of arrival and departure: a memory-foam mattress in the Lavanda, a four-poster bed in the Vaniglia Suite, a mezzanine in the Zafferano for families traveling together. In the morning, breakfast brings homemade cakes to the table; in the evening, the restaurant serves cured meats hand-crafted by the family's expert norcini, along with truffle and vegetables from the farm.
Casale La Palombara is an address of land and table, in the Umbrian Valnerina: the page tells every detail of the stay.
