The Coach House Restaurant
Once a Coach house to the nearby Manor, this hidden restaurant tucked away in the grounds of the Garden Centre has an old world charm all of its own and has been a favourite for discerning diners for nearly thirty years.
A wide choice of excellent dishes are on the menu with our produce fresh from the market daily. Our fine wine list complements the menu perfectly, and a special two-course menu is available at lunchtimes.

Way back in 1080, William the Conqueror gave the land at Rokesle, as it was then known, to his half-brother, Odo, Bishop of Baieux. He rented this out to a certain Malgerius who assumed the name Malgerius of Rokesdale. At that time, eight knights commanded by William were given the task of defending Dover Castle and Malgerius did his annual twenty-day stint.
To this day, you still enter Dover Castle through the Ruxley gate.
Down the ages, various families have occupied the Manor House. Gregory de Rokesdale became Lord Mayor of the City of London from 1274 to 1285, this being perpetuated in a tablet on the wall of Lloyds Bank in Lombard Street. The present house dates from the 17th Century with later additions, although some of the interior is probably 15th or 16th Century.
To the right of the house is a large Mulberry tree which goes back to between 1610AD and 1615AD, when it was decreed in James 1st time that all landowners should be encouraged to produce silk. However, silkworms only enjoyed white mulberries and, unfortunately, the blue variety was planted.
Today, the Manor House has been converted into a Children’s Day Nursery under the name of Grace’s, she being the last member of the family to live there.

Bereits seit 1975 besteht dieses ausgezeichnete italienische Restaurant, das aufgrund seiner Beliebtheit schon viermal vergrößert wurde.
Mitarbeiter:
Ein eingespieltes Team, vorwiegend italienisch besetzt verwöhnen die Gäste mit vollstem Einsatz, und sind Bemüht den Gästen ein Gefühl des zu Hause seins zu vermitteln. Einige sind schon fast Familienmitglieder und viele Jahre im Unternehmen im Einsatz.
Einzugsgebiet Gäste:
Das Restaurant Il Mare ist nicht nur in Wien, sondern auch österreichweit und international bekannt und beliebt. Viele Gäste kommen aus der ganzen Welt speziell für einen kulinarischen Besuch zu dem Traditionsunternehmen.
Spezialisierung und Besonderheiten:
Die einzigartige traditionell italienische Küche, die neben der bereits ausgezeichneten „besten Pizza Wiens“ auch Fischkreationen allererster Wahl beinhaltet, erfreut den Gourmet in jeder Hinsicht.
Die Bistecca Fiorentina (T-Bone-Steak auf toskanische Art), die direkt in einem schon für das Auge beeindruckenden Holzofengrill zubereitet wird, ist bis New York bekannt und wird dort auch empfohlen.
Selbstverständlich werden alle Pizze vor den Augen der Gäste ganz frisch im Holzofen zubereitet. Nahezu alle Zutaten werden direkt aus Italien geliefert.
Erfolgsfaktoren:
Nur ein kompetenter Gastgeber kann seinen Gästen das Gefühl des „Zu-Hause-Seins“ vermitteln. Dieses Erfolgsrezept stammt vom Firmengründer Pasquale Tavella. Absolute Sauberkeit, Gastfreundschaft und ein gemütliches Ambiente, das den Gästen das Gefühl eines Urlaubes in Italien vermitteln soll, steht im Il Mare im Vordergrund.
Nach dem Ableben des Firmengründer Pasquale Tavella († 2016) wird das Restaurant von der Tochter, Grazia Tavella–Sevilmis als Erlebnisgastronomie betrieben – schon beim Betreten des Restaurants hat man ein gutes Gefühl!
Erwähnenswertes:
Das Il Mare erhielt bereits viele Auszeichnungen und beachtliche Erwähnungen, unter anderem im „Tafelspitz“. Ganz besonders stolz ist man auf die Auszeichnung des „Premio Ospitalità Italiana“, mit dem das Restaurant als die beste Pizzeria Wiens geehrt wurde.
Voraussichtlich vom 1.Mai – 30.September wird für die Gäste ein schöner Schanigarten aufgestellt.
Bekannte Persönlichkeiten aus den Bereichen Sport, Film, Fernsehen, Theater und Politik sind als Stammgäste stets gerne gesehen. Die immer in Erinnerung bleibende österreichische Legende Falco war hier ebenfalls Stammgast.

Der Innenbereich des Il Mare fasst zirka 100 Gäste, im Schanigarten finden bis zu 40 Gäste einen Sitzplatz.

Neben Bargeld können die Gäste gerne auch mit der Bankomatkarte sowie den Kreditkarten Visa und MasterCard bezahlen.
Vittoria Beach è un ristorante storico del litorale laziale, fondato negli anni ’50 e gestito dal 1975 con passione da Salvatore e Venere Spataro.
Completamente restaurato nel 2002, è diventato negli anni un punto di riferimento per la cucina mediterranea e per l’accoglienza familiare.
Nel corso della sua storia, Vittoria Beach si è distinto anche per una vivace attività di intrattenimento: ha ospitato concorsi canori, sfilate di moda, spettacoli teatrali, cabaret e serate con personaggi televisivi, contribuendo ad animare la vita culturale della zona.
Oggi continua a offrire un’esperienza completa, con musica dal vivo ogni sabato e corsi di ballo aperti a tutti. Durante l’estate, lo stabilimento balneare si trasforma in un punto di ritrovo molto frequentato, dove il buon cibo e il divertimento si incontrano in riva al mare.
