I am so excited to open my new restaurant in Haslemere and I look forward to serving you some of my family favourites and some classic Italian dishes soon.

I have over 20 years experience in managing and working in the catering industry both as an importer and exporter of fine foods from Italy and as a restaurateur in London. I felt it was time to take life a bit easier and start up something for me and my family. The experience I gained from working at United Colours of Benetton and launching Boscoreale, a restaurant which I have now sold, has given me the foundation to start something smaller and more intimate.

My passion is food, family and good company. I look forward to welcoming you to Carlo Independent Italian Restaurant soon and for us to laugh and love food together.

Milano
De Geschiedenis

Chef-kok Johan De Jaegher groeide letterlijk op tussen de pannen en potten van de Milano, het oudste Italiaanse restaurant van Antwerpen, dat door zijn vader in 1971 werd overgenomen. Na een Frans-georienteerde koks-opleiding aan de vermaarde hotelschool Ter Duinen in Koksijde, trad Johan op amper 19-jarige leeftijd in de voetsporen van zijn vader en nam het roer in de keuken van de beroemde familiezaak over. Door toedoen van de Italiaanse chefs die er dagelijks aan de slag gingen, ontwikkelde Johan een diepgaande liefde voor de verfijnde Italiaanse keuken die hij 25 jaar lang met de vele habitué’s van de Milano deelde. Tot hij besloot dat het tijd werd om zijn eigen gastronomische hotspot uit de grond te stampen.

De Pastorie
In Gooreind

‘Toen mijn echtgenote en ik merkten dat de plaatselijke Pastorie in Sylvie’s geboortedorp Gooreind vrij kwam te staan, wisten we meteen dat dit de perfecte locatie was om onze culinaire droom te realiseren: een eigen Italiaans restaurant, volledig naar onze smaak en visie ingericht. Het gebouw dateert uit 1866 en had nood aan een totale make-over maar tijdens elke stap van dit grondige renovatie-project hebben we er zorgvuldig over gewaakt dat de ziel en grandeur van dit pand bewaard bleven. Gezellige hoekjes, toetsen van goud, brons en koper en een ingenieuze verlichting zorgen voor een intiem karakter en een gevoel van luxueuze rust. Kortom het gedroomde decor om te genieten van onze liefde voor Italiaanse gerechten.  

    
De originele
Italiaanse keuken

Het absolute pronkstuk in onze keuken is de Morello Forni-pizza-oven, zeg maar de Lamborghini onder de gespecialiseerde houtovens. Op onze kaart vind je naast een  uitgebreid assortiment van authentieke pizza’s ook verschillende olijfolieën uit Piëmonte en de Chianti-streek, zorgvuldige gerijpte Balsamico-azijn, mozzarella di buffola, de fijnste Italiaanse vleeswaren, verse en gedroogde pasta’s die à la minute worden gekookt, zelfgemaakte ravioli en canneloni, Italiaanse klassiekers als osso buco, gebakken kalfslever, gamberoni a la grigglia,…

In de zomer heten wij u eveneens welkom op ons ruime terras dat uitkijkt over een oase van groen en waar je met een lekker glaasje prosecco of een aperitivo kan genieten van het vermaarde Italiaanse dolce far niente.

Wij hopen dan ook dat u zich in Il Divino di Milano laat meenemen op onze culinaire rondreis doorheen de lekkerste uithoekjes van de Italiaanse keuken.

Il Timone apre i suoi battenti intorno al 1960 quando Portovenere non aveva ancora raggiunto l'interesse turistico odierno. Lo creano e lo conducono sino alla fine degli anni '80 Marino e Toni offrendo ai loro clienti i piatti della tradizione ligure uniti al piatto italiano per eccellenza: la pizza.
Oggi sul percorso creato dai genitori, Antonella continua la tradizione in un locale totalmente rinnovato ma nei tipici toni della Liguria.

Il timone è la giusta meta per gustare i sapori e le atmosfere della cucina ligure.
Ideale per un aperitivo offerto dalle 18,00 in poi con vini e gastronomia ligure o per una cena dai più diversi toni.
Ottimo per l'organizzazione di compleanni pomeridiani con la formula a buffet, o tradizionali con l'offerta delle gustose pizze create dall'alta professionalità di Antonella già esponente di punta del settore pizza e attualmente Presidente dell'Associazione Pizza Planet - Scienza e Cultura della Pizza.

Interessante per gruppi sino ad un massimo di 50 persone un'offerta di menù aperitivo con vini e gastronomia ligure da 7 euro, e cena a partire da 15 euro.

"L'Armadio" vi offrirà un'occasione per poter regalare o regalarvi una concreta memoria del vostro passaggio al Timone.

Osteria tipica con cucina. Dalla birra alla spina a ottimi vini della casa e di mescita, fino a un dopo cena con degli ottimi e ricercati cocktail.

Da noi puoi provare degustazioni di salumi, bolliti, formaggi e sottoli di prodotti selezionati cercando di valorizzare i piccoli produttori.

Our families and friends call us Vagabondi—wanderers—as we’ve always had wanderlust in our eyes. 

We met in 2000 and have shared countless life experiences, living and traveling together across the globe. No matter where we landed, we always found ways to create a "home away from home." We soon realized that what always eased our homesickness was serving the enduring meals of Naples on our table.

As we grew older, our desire to find a place to put down roots grew stronger. The Pizza Vagabond was actually born many years ago when we realized that we always found and returned to "our home" through eating, making, and sharing our traditional food of Naples.

Ragazzi Bistro è un ristorante situato ad Aguascalientes, in Messico, specializzato in cucina italiana tradizionale. Il locale offre un ambiente accogliente dove gli ospiti possono gustare piatti autentici preparati con ingredienti freschi e di qualità.
