Bei gutem Essen finden Familien zusammen und es werden Freundschaften geschlossen – darum ist es uns ein großes Anliegen, Ihnen nicht nur italienische Köstlichkeiten zuzubereiten, sondern Ihnen vor allem eine schöne Zeit zu bescheren. Als Familie, die aus Süditalien stammt, bringen wir die italienische Küche direkt auf Ihre Teller. Dabei nutzen wir ausschließlich erlesene, italienische Produkte und Zutaten. Jedes unserer Rezepte wurde schon seit der 3. Generation weitergegeben und mit Liebe verfeinert. Mit der Hilfe von italienischen Techniken, viel Innovation und Hingabe entstehen so die aromatischsten Kreationen.
Unsere Geschichte
Wir sind eine Familie aus Kalabrien in Süditalien. Seit 5 Jahren leben wir nun in Deutschland und möchten Ihnen den Genuss unserer Heimat näherbringen. Mit großer Leidenschaft geben wir uns der Küche hin, um Ihnen ein vollkommenes Erlebnis zu verschaffen.
Die Kunst der Pizza
Jede Pizza wird von uns mit Liebe und spezieller Technik zubereitet. Für besonders luftige Böden mit knusprigen Rändern lassen wir unsere Teige 48 Stunden vor der Zubereitung ruhen, so können sie sich richtig entfalten. Anschließend kümmern wir uns mit Hingabe um den Belag Ihrer Wünsche.

La storia della Gran Pasticceria Barbera
Intorno agli anni '60 vede la luce a Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (ME), ad opera dei coniugi Santina e Luigi Barbera, un piccolo forno che produce in maniera artigianale biscotti per la prima colazione.
Grazie alla loro laboriosità il piccolo forno passa rapidamente da una dimensione puramente familiare ad un laboratorio attrezzato per la produzione non solo di biscotti per la prima colazione, ma anche dei vari dolci tipici della tradizione siciliana ed in particolare della pasticceria messinese.
Nella prima metà degli anni '90 nasce la Gran Pasticceria Barbera anche perché al lavoro dei coniugi Barbera si unisce con lo stesso entusiasmo quello dei loro figli, i quali hanno saputo coniugare alla sapiente lavorazione, la ricercatezza della qualità che caratterizza tutte le loro prelibatezze.
Il passo è dunque breve, dalla semplice produzione di biscotti si passa alla produzione del panettone artigianale, al torrone siciliano, alle uova pasquali decorate a mano, nonché la frutta martorana, le piparelle, la pignolata e le paste di mandorla che rappresentano il fiore all'occhiello di questa pasticceria che vanta la decennale esportazione dei suoi apprezzati prodotti dolciari.

Established in 1987, we are an independent, family run traditional Italian restaurant
based at the start of Compstall Road in Romiley, Stockport. Specialising in rustic Italian
home style cooking, open evenings only - 5pm till 10pm everyday except Monday.
Who is the Italian?
Originally from Naples, owner Ferdinando Mercogliano studied at catering schools in Vico Equense and in the centre of Naples before working across Italy and Switzerland, settling in England in the early 80’s.
Our recipes and the ideology behind everything we do and make come from Ferdinando. Many of the dishes we make here today are made the same way that he learnt from his mother and grandmother. Hailing from a part of Naples famous for its pasta making history, cooking is in the Mercogliano family blood.
Now a grandfather, Ferdinando is based both here in Stockport and in Lucca, Tuscany. Sharing his time between Italy and England means Ferdinando guarantees constant fresh and original menu ideas, using the best local and seasonal ingredients. Trusting the day to day running of the kitchen to a carefully selected fantastic team of chefs.
In charge of the restaurant you will find his eldest son Alessandro. A true typical Italian family business!
Ferdinando's deep passion for Italian cooking is infectious and it has truly passed down in the generations of his family. Our heads, hands and hearts are firmly in the kitchen and we are driven to offer customers good food, value for money and a true taste of Italy.
Now well into our 37th year of trading here in Romiley, we are more passionate than ever for what we do. We have recently expanded, and we now have 8 more tables in a new downstairs area. Complete with another bar, facilities and our usual friendly service.
Our philosophy is simplicity, quality, authenticity and big flavours, in a fun and bustling typical southern Italian environment. With us you will always be guests and never customers. Learning and growing day by day, we are truly humbled by your regular custom.
