The place
In the historic centre of Rovereto, Torrefazione Caffè Bontadi has carried forward an unbroken family tradition of artisan coffee production since 1790. Founded by Carlo Bontadi as a commercial venture, the roastery began roasting with its first machines thanks to his great-great-grandson Oddone, and those historic pieces of equipment are still preserved today at the CoBo company museum. The Accademia del Caffè offers professional courses and guided tastings, while the online shop allows customers to buy the production directly.
The origins
Torrefazione Caffè Bontadi was founded in 1790 at the will of Carlo Bontadi, who opened a commercial venture in Rovereto destined to become Italy's first coffee roastery.

Torrefazione Caffè Bontadi produces coffee worked by hand according to traditional techniques, preserving the methods that have shaped production since its origins despite technical evolution.
The process begins with the choice of raw materials, ranging from arabica to robusta, with attention also given to certified organic coffee lines to meet different consumption needs.
Roasting takes place with equipment that brings out the specific characteristics of each variety, allowing distinctive aromatic profiles to develop for every blend and single origin.
The Accademia del Caffè (Coffee Academy) is where knowledge is passed on through professional courses for baristas and guided tastings for enthusiasts, reinforcing a culture of quality coffee.
