The vineyards are cultivated on terraces held up by more than seven hundred kilometres of dry-stone walls built in porphyry, a defining feature of the Val di Cembra's wine-growing landscape.
The vines grow on steep slopes with an elevation change of up to six hundred metres, from the treeline down to the Avisio stream, conditions that call for manual work and the techniques proper to heroic viticulture.
Franco and Carlo Gottardi apply knowledge and practices inherited from earlier generations, adapting the work in the vineyard to the specific character of the Val di Cembra's mountain terrain.
The grapes grow in a protected territory recognised as a historic Rural Landscape of Italy, where the climate and soil conditions of the Val di Cembra contribute to the quality of the DOC wines and sparkling wines.
