The place
IL NOCINO DI ZENO was born in Reggio Emilia from a story that weaves together a passion for motorcycling and rural tradition. In the 1920s, young Zeno would accompany his father Aderito, a G.D. motorcycle racer, always carrying a walnut as a good luck charm. After every victory he would plant it near the Pieve di Fosdondo, where the fertile soil favoured the growth of monumental trees. From those ripened walnuts, Zeno created a nocino following a secret recipe that even won over the Royal House.
The origins
The story of IL NOCINO DI ZENO begins in 1920, when motorcycle racing and a boy's superstitious gesture gave rise to a walnut grove destined to become legend.

IL NOCINO DI ZENO uses walnuts from the historic trees of Fosdondo, grown on the land Zeno chose in the 1920s. These monumental trees benefit from the qualities of the local soil, particularly favourable to walnut cultivation.
The area of Fosdondo offers ideal soil conditions: cool, slightly acidic, rich in organic matter and with good water retention. A historic vocation dating back to Roman times.
The nocino is made following the age-old recipe preserved for over a century, the one Zeno developed from the walnuts of his own trees. An artisanal formula that has passed through generations while keeping its identity intact.
