The place
Cameo Factory De Paola preserves in Naples a craft tradition spanning nearly a century. In the workshop on via Annibale Caccavello, the De Paola family carries on the ancient art of cameo engraving and coral working, creating unique jewels entirely by hand. Rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants take shape from the engravers' skill, who transform shells and corals into carved miniatures. Visitors can watch the pieces being made step by step and request bespoke creations, taking home an authentic fragment of Neapolitan craftsmanship.

Shells and corals are chosen for their quality and suitability for engraving, evaluating thickness and colour stratification.
The engravers work the cameo by hand with traditional tools, carving into the shell miniatures that make use of its different layers of natural colour.
The coral is shaped and polished by hand, respecting the material's natural form to bring out its hues and brilliance.
Cameos and corals are set onto rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that complete the artisan process.
