ristorazione — Città di Castello · Umbria
In the Alta Valle del Tevere (Upper Tiber Valley), in Città di Castello, Umbrian cuisine has had a precise address for forty years. A family-run trattoria that preserves the flavours of its territory with the same measured care it has always used to prepare them.
In the medieval heart of Città di Castello, on Corso Cavour, a door opens onto forty years of family history. Since 1986, Lea and Toni Cuccarini have run this trattoria, today carried on together with their children Cristiano and Marco: four generations of hospitality recognisable already at the threshold, in the precise, warm gesture of those who know how to welcome guests.
The three dining rooms tell the passage of time without need for words: vaulted and coffered ceilings, exposed wooden beams, frescoed walls and antique terracotta floors compose an interior where deep Umbria remains intact. Those who sit here do not enter a restaurant, they enter a place that has chosen not to change.
From the kitchen come the dishes that define this cuisine: taglierini with black truffle, gnocchi made with the deco potato of Pietralunga, the traditional Umbrian stracotto (slow-braised beef), and the mixed crostini that open every table. Local ingredients, deep-rooted recipes: nothing here is by chance, everything answers to a precise fidelity to the landscape and its seasons.
At the finish, a dish that tastes of true Umbria. The page tells the full story of the menu and of the family behind it.
