produttori — Levanto · Liguria
On the Riviera di Levante, where the hills drop sheer to the sea in the province of La Spezia, Terre di Levanto tends vineyards on terraces facing the Ligurian horizon. A high-altitude viticulture, tenacious and deeply rooted, that carries into the bottle the character of a landscape built on rock and sea wind.
Four sites — Giaè, Brazzo, Costa di Farragiana and Punta Mesco, the latter along the path between Levanto and Monterosso al Mare — hold vineyards that have belonged to the family for more than eighty years. These are rows wrested from the slope, farmed with the effort that here goes by the name of heroic viticulture: every bunch is the result of work no machine can replace.
Caring for the soil is, for Terre di Levanto, a precise and documented choice: the vineyards are in organic conversion, and in Giaè beehives have been placed to encourage the natural pollination of the rows. The same commitment guides the pairings offered at the wine bar, built around zero-kilometre local products, as part of a declared short-supply-chain project.
The terraces give rise to the DOC Colline di Levanto wines: Giaè and Rosso di Mare carry on their labels the dialect names of the places, whites and reds that speak of the mineral, briny character of this Ligurian coast. The estate's own shop in the hamlet of San Gottardo sells them directly, with no intermediaries, alongside a selection of local products.
At the FUORIPORTA wine bar, in the centre of Levanto, a guided tasting paired with Ligurian products is the most direct way to meet these wines and the territory that shaped them.
