ristorazione — Menfi · Sicilia
In south-western Sicily, where the vineyard stretches out far enough to catch the breath of the Mediterranean, the contrada (rural district) of Agareni holds on to a corner of the Menfi countryside capable of keeping table and land together: Dining and Hospitality at the heart of one of the island's most deeply rooted and recognisable wine-growing areas.
Menfi is one of those towns the Mediterranean has shaped with patience: facing the Agrigento coast, its countryside unfolds in ordered rows climbing gently inland, among vineyards and olive groves that define the landscape. In the contrada of Agareni, Simone Sanzone chose this territory as the setting — and the reason — for a project that rises from the land and returns to the table.
The dining room welcomes those arriving from the vineyards with the measure typical of Sicilian hospitality: nothing superfluous, everything in its place. The Menfi area has a gastronomic tradition rooted in the agricultural and Mediterranean culture of this coast, and here that tradition finds a home where it can be told with care, without haste and without distance from the raw ingredients.
In the kitchen, dialogue with the territory is the working method: south-western Sicily offers raw ingredients from one of the island's most generous agricultural areas, and the kitchen at Tenute interprets them following the season and the landscape visible from the window — vineyards, olive trees, the salt of the nearby sea — without ever losing sight of the gastronomic tradition of the Menfi area.
Tenute Agareni is a destination reached with intention, lived slowly, and left with the wish to return: the page tells the rest.
