ristorazione — Pietà · Malta
On the shores of the Mediterranean, in Pietà, Malta, Ristorante La Vela was born in 2008 from an idea by Michelle Muscat: an accountant by profession, raised in a family with a long history in dining, she turned what began as a hobby into a benchmark address for refined Mediterranean cuisine.
What begins as a project nurtured in spare time becomes, year after year, a full-time commitment. Michelle Muscat brings with her a background in accounting and the roots of a family with a long history in dining: two seemingly distant inheritances that find, at the entrance to La Vela, a natural synthesis of managerial rigour and genuine Mediterranean hospitality.
In the dining room, Michelle Muscat runs the service with the command of the Front of House that trade press has recognised as a defining trait of La Vela. A concrete elegance, never showy, that has placed the restaurant among the Top 40 of the Definitively Good Guide Awards and earned it a specific recognition in the same edition.
Behind the kitchen doors, chef Enrico Alecci leads a team of cooks who have made Mediterranean cuisine their daily language. The raw materials from Malta's sea and land, worked with technique and consistency, are the meeting point between Michelle Muscat's entrepreneurial vision and the talent of those who keep the stoves burning every evening.
