Among the Umbrian hills that slope down toward the Clitunno plain, in Cantalupo di Bevagna, Albergo Piandarca is a family home that has chosen to safeguard an ancient knowledge: the cuisine of the territory, the flavours that the surrounding landscape has brought to the table for generations.
The window opens onto the green of the hills, and already from here one senses why Cantalupo has remained a secluded place: nothing disturbs the line of olive groves and fields, and a few kilometres away the medieval towers of Bevagna mark the boundary between the present and history. It is from this stillness that the stay begins, even before crossing the threshold.
The property is run by brothers Simone and Federico Pensa: a family project born from the will to recover a local tradition, to keep alive a way of welcoming guests that belongs to this corner of Umbria. From the balcony, the countryside stretches out silently toward the horizon, and that same continuity between place and hospitality is what sets Piandarca apart.
The rooms — double, twin or triple — are designed for those who want to stay with ease: free Wi-Fi, a fridge in every room, and just outside the door a facility equipped for passing cyclists, with a dedicated washing area and covered bicycle parking. The morning light streams in generously, bringing with it the awareness of being in the heart of green Umbria.
At the restaurant, snails cooked according to the tradition of the Sagra di Cantalupo (Cantalupo snail festival) await those who wish to taste the most authentic, deeply rooted flavour of this Umbrian territory.
