In the heart of Spoleto's historic centre, just steps from the Duomo and the Rocca Albornoziana, Residenza dei Longobardi occupies a building of Longobard-era origin (early medieval Lombard period): rooms and apartments where the medieval borgo is not a backdrop, but the very fabric of the stay.
The window opens onto Spoleto and the Umbrian landscape that hems it in on every side. The historic centre is easily walkable: two minutes to the escalators and the Posterna car park, a few steps to the Duomo, the Teatro Romano and the Rocca Albornoziana. A quiet, well-placed spot within one of Umbria's best-preserved medieval towns.
One of the rooms has a large green terrace; in spring and summer, the private garden becomes the setting for aperitivo hour. Here guests can taste — and buy — Umbrian wines, legumes, homemade organic jams made with seasonal fruit, and house-made visciolino (a liqueur made from wild sour cherries): the territory captured in a jar, to take home.
The rooms — Albornoz, Casa Romana, Arco di Druso — take their names from the city's landmark sites and are each individually decorated with artisan furniture and fine details. Hospitality is run by Paola, the owner, who brings years of experience in the restaurant trade. For longer stays, an apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and a studio flat are located forty metres from the main building.
