ristorazione — Melsungen · Assia
In Melsungen, in the heart of the German region of Hesse, a family originally from Calabria has opened the doors to a genuine slice of Italy. Reginella Rosticceria brings to Germany recipes handed down over three generations, the same passion and the same ingredients selected directly from the South, with no compromises.
Five years ago a family originally from Calabria chose Melsungen to bring to Germany what it knows best: the genuine cooking of Southern Italy. From the entrance, the character of the place is immediately clear. The Certificato di Eccellenza (Certificate of Excellence) 2021 and the top Food International seal confirm that this commitment has been recognised well beyond the borders of the Hessian town.
The dining room is modern and welcoming, but what truly stands out is the atmosphere: guests describe feeling instantly at home, as in a classic Italian trattoria. Every ingredient brought to the table comes directly from Italy, selected from Calabria with care — a detail that comes through in the flavour and sets Reginella apart from any approximation of Southern Italian cooking. Prices remain fair and accessible.
In the kitchen, time is measured in hours of rising: the dough rests for forty-eight hours before being worked, to achieve a cornicione (pizza crust) that is perfectly honeycombed, light and easy to digest. Baking takes place in the traditional wood-fired oven, as true Neapolitan pizza demands. Every step in the kitchen follows Calabrian artisan techniques that allow no shortcuts: this is the secret of a pizza recognisable from the very first bite.
In the dish that reaches the table, the South is unmistakable: Calabrian ingredients, slow-risen dough, wood-fired oven. The client's page tells every detail of this family story.
