ristorazione — Napoli · Campania
In the dense fabric of central Naples, a short walk from the railway hub that keeps the city moving, a pastry shop founded in 1963 holds its ground with the same determination it brings each morning to kneading its sfogliatelle.
Two hundred metres from Naples Central Station, beyond a door that has opened every morning since 1963 onto the same scent of puff pastry, stands a sign the city has made its own. Sixty years of continuity is not simply a date: it is the measure of trust earned day by day, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
The counter tells the house's twofold story: on one side, sfogliatella riccia (crisp, layered pastry shell), crunchy and layered according to the traditional method, and its frolla (shortcrust) variant, soft and recognised among the city's finest; on the other, a selection of halal sweets that sets the pastries of another tradition alongside Neapolitan specialities, one never crowding out the other.
The workshop is also home to PanPastiera, a house creation that threads panettone (Italian festive sweet bread) through with the flavours of pastiera napoletana (Neapolitan Easter tart) — wheat, ricotta, orange-blossom water — turning a festive sweet into a story of the city. It is the mark of a bakery that knows tradition well enough to reinterpret it.
