ristorazione — Palermo · Sicilia
In the heart of Palermo, a short walk from via Libertà, a small café has chosen to tell the story of Sicily through entirely plant-based cooking: no concessions, no compromises, just the flavours of the territory reworked with coherence and care.
A short walk from via Libertà, in the living fabric of central Palermo, the threshold of Matteotti Cafè opens onto an unexpected world: an entirely plant-based menu, built day by day, able to reinterpret the flavours of Sicilian tradition without giving up anything in indulgence or in rigour.
The counter is the heart of the place: from early morning the display fills with vegan pastries — including the sette veli (hazelnut and chocolate layer cake) — while the coffee machine warms the small room. A breakfast that has won over even palates far removed from plant-based cooking, every day until four in the afternoon.
At lunchtime the kitchen changes register: a fixed menu at ten euros — primo of the day (first course) plus a dessert of choice — brings to the table the logic of a proper break, substantial and uncompromising. Every dish is plant-based, every recipe designed for those who want to eat well without giving up pleasure.
From the breakfast counter to the first course of the day, Matteotti Cafè shows that plant-based cooking can simply be good Sicilian cooking.
