In Bergamo, along via Giovanni Battista Moroni, the LGR laboratory holds a rare double vocation: the science of the stone and the art of gold. Since 1980, Roberto Spagnolo has united the gemmologist's precision with the goldsmith's hand, in a place where every gem has a story to be read.
At the goldsmith's bench, among fine pliers and skeins of gold wire, Roberto Spagnolo has worked since 1980 with the same double identity: a trained gemmologist — certified by the Istituto Gemmologico Italiano (Italian Gemmological Institute) and the GIA — and an artist whose works can be found in London, Chicago, Moscow, Bangkok and nine other countries. For him, gold is at once an instrument of measure and a language of expression.
At the laboratory bench, the most rigorous work takes place: technical appraisals of diamonds and precious stones carried out with professional instruments, valid for private clients, collectors and industry professionals. Roberto Spagnolo serves as an appraiser for the Court and the Chamber of Commerce of Bergamo, as well as for the Collegio Periti Lombardi (Lombard College of Appraisers), and is a direct importer of diamonds and rare stones.
In the light, every stone reveals its own identity: refractive index, chromatic dispersion, inclusions. At the LGR laboratory, optical analyses — carried out with certified professional instruments — establish the authenticity and value of diamonds and rare gems for private clients, collectors, court-appointed appraisers and inheritance divisions. Roberto Spagnolo also serves as an advisor to the Borsa Diamanti d'Italia (Italian Diamond Exchange).
The LGR laboratory page describes in detail its appraisal services, its goldsmith collection and Roberto Spagnolo's works of art.
