On the slopes of Etna, seven minutes from the centre of Catania, seven hectares of emotional garden hold one of Italy's most recognised botanical experiences: in 2020, Le Stanze in Fiore in Canalicchio was named among the two hundred most beautiful gardens in the world.
At the heart of the garden stands a neoclassical country villa built in the nineteenth century: it is around her that the seven hectares have taken shape over time, with the Burmese garden, the Zen garden, and the Chinese garden with its eight interconnecting ponds carved into the lava rock. Every corner answers to a precise design, recognised in 2011 by Grandi Giardini Italiani for its exceptional standard of upkeep and care.
The vegetable garden holds organic certification IT-BIO-004: every crop follows its natural production cycle, with no exceptions. The small market opens four mornings a week — Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday — and visitors can pick the vegetables themselves. A protocol of care that shows in the soil before it ever shows on paper.
The nursery holds over one thousand two hundred species of colourful, fragrant plants, including tropical varieties hard to find elsewhere in Sicily. Guided sensory trails and a working farm for children — with sowing and harvesting activities for children and families — round out an offer that turns every visit into a structured journey of discovery.
