produttori — Massa Marittima · Toscana
In the upper Maremma Toscana, where the hills slope down toward the sea at Follonica, the La Cura estate stands in the hamlet of Cura Nuova, watched over by the longest avenue of cypresses in Italy. Enrico Corsi tends twenty-five hectares of vineyard that interpret, with organic rigour, the voice of a border territory.
Twenty-five hectares of vineyard unfold at the heart of the Maremma Toscana DOC and Monteregio di Massa Marittima denominations: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Vermentino, Ansonica, Malvasia, Trebbiano and Chardonnay. Each variety finds its place in soil worked under organic regime, giving back to the Maremma hillside landscape the complexity that has always belonged to it.
The estate is not only wine. Historically devoted to vegetable growing, fruit growing and cereal farming, La Cura keeps these roots alive: from more than ten hectares of orchards it draws fresh fruit, preserves and jams; from the remaining one hundred and twenty hectares it produces cereals. A plural agriculture that grounds the estate in the Maremma territory well beyond the glass, with a coherence read in the soil before it is read on the label.
Among the cellar's labels, Vedetta stands out: an upturned bottle and a Braille label signal an attention to accessibility rare in the world of wine. A one-megawatt photovoltaic plant powers the estate's activities, closing a circle in which care for the landscape and care for the product proceed with the same measure and the same intent.
From vineyard to cellar, through fields and orchards: the La Cura page tells every detail of this Maremma estate.
