ristorazione — Conegliano · Veneto
In the hills of Conegliano, where Prosecco made the landscape famous, there is a place that since 1989 has chosen craft beer as its language. A bet made when almost no one understood it yet, one that has since become a certainty.
It was 1989 when Il Maltese opened in the hamlet of Parè, at a time when craft beer in Italy was still a rarity that needed explaining. Thirty-five years on, that pioneering choice has become a point of reference for the whole Conegliano area and for those who travel from afar to find it.
The room is lively every evening, but it is on Thursdays that it comes alive with live music; the first and third Fridays are given over to karaoke, the second and fourth to the Cervellone quiz night testing everyone's memory. A weekly calendar built up over the years, which has turned the place into a fixture for the community.
In the kitchen the principle is simple and rigorous: the meat is ground the same evening, the kitchen works with zero-kilometre ingredients and stays open until half past one in the morning. Behind every dish lies a choice about sourcing, not a concession to compromise; the same care goes into selecting the more than one hundred beer labels on the menu.
Over one hundred beers, a kitchen that never closes before dawn, and a room that never stops playing: discover Il Maltese in the full page.
