In Parco Monte Ciocci, on the ridge that looks down on Rome from above, an abandoned structure has become a bar bistrot open to the neighbourhood. Il Casotto opened in November 2024 through a public tender, and with it came a view over the city that few green spaces in Rome can offer.
The entrance to Il Casotto already tells its story: this building, left unused for years in the heart of Parco Monte Ciocci, was restored through a public tender from the Comune di Roma (Rome City Council) and reopened on 7 November 2024. A place that had ceased to exist has become part of the life of the Balduina neighbourhood once again, with an identity all its own.
The dining room and garden at Il Casotto live on a deliberately informal atmosphere: tables set outdoors among the park's trees, a welcome that works equally well for a family lunch or an aperitivo among friends. The venue can host private events for up to sixty people, adults and children together, without losing the measure of the place.
The kitchen at Il Casotto works from dawn: breakfast service begins at seven in the morning and carries through the day to the sunset aperitivo, when the light over Rome shifts and the park grows quieter. Dishes made with care from quality ingredients, an easy register that never gives up on attention to detail: this is the measure that the park's regulars have come to recognise.
