ristorazione — Cogne · Valle d'Aosta
In Cogne, in the heart of Valle d'Aosta and at the foot of Gran Paradiso, a door onto the historic centre opens into a world where Valdostana cuisine (from Valle d'Aosta) tells its story unhurried, in a setting that carries the memory of things made well.
On Rue Dr. Grappein, in the historic centre of Cogne, the Hostellerie de L'Atelier occupies one of those places you find by chance and remember for a long time. The venue welcomes groups of up to fifty, offers takeaway by reservation every day for lunch and dinner, and serves fortified aperitifs with bread and lardo (cured pork fat) snacks from morning until seven in the evening.
The interior rooms form a small, unintentional museum: wooden furnishings typical of mountain tradition, everyday objects passed down through generations, and sculptures by Dorino Ouvrier set among the tables. The atmosphere is that of a place truly lived in, not staged, where the quiet and warmth are a deliberate choice of those who have run it for years.
The kitchen works on Valdostana tradition with rigour and quality: soupetta di Cogne, favò with fontina and fresh fava beans, spaghetti alla chitarra with blue cheese, and the red-hearted potato on a toma and truffle fonduta. The menu includes vegetarian and gluten-free options, served with the same care reserved for dishes of the great tradition.
A precise address in the heart of Cogne, where Valdostana cuisine meets the hospitality of those who have known their craft for generations.
